Who we are:
NeuCyte is an innovative biotech company focused on generating quality induced pluripotent stem (iPSC)-derived neural cells to aid drug discovery efforts. Based on proprietary SynFire® technology for generating human iPSC-derived neural cells, NeuCyte has developed highly functional in vitro platforms that allow us to focus our work 3D organoid Microphysiologicalsystems (MPS), enabling disease modeling, neurotoxicity testing, phenotypic drug discovery, target identification, and compound efficacy studies. Our robust platform allows us to differentiate iPS cells from any background into a range of neural cell types, including neurons, astrocytes, and microglia.

What we're looking for:
NeuCyte is seeking a highly motivated independent Scientist I to join our stem cell technology team. In this role, the successful candidate will apply their expertise in iPSC-derived cells and disease modeling to develop human stem cell-based in vitro models of neurodegenerative diseases. The candidate will employ these models for phenotypic assay development for drug discovery screening efforts. This position requires a strong background in iPSC cell culture, disease modeling, and phenotypic assay development.
What you’ll do:
-
Differentiate patient iPSC into neural cell types.
-
Perform gene-editing of iPSCs to correct mutations or introduce disease modeling mutations.
-
Develop novel iPSC-derived 2D & 3D models for central nervous system (CNS) diseases to identify phenotypes for drug discovery/screening.
-
Participate in/lead the design and implementation of manufacturing scale up of existing or new iPSC-derived cell types.
-
Participate in the design and implementation of QA and QC assay criteria.
-
Participate in/lead the design and implementation of cell-based assays that includes high-content imaging for phenotypic drug screening using both high-throughput and live cell imaging platforms, and development of automated image analysis pipelines.
-
Keep up with the technology of the field, review relevant literature, and evaluate systems and analysis solutions.
-
Prepare SOPs and train/supervise technical staff to assist with assays as needed.
-
Write project reports and present projects at internal and external meetings.
-
Work together with the team to maintain lab instruments, interact with service partners, and instrument manufacturers.

Required:
-
PhD with at least 3 years iPSC experience, preferably in fast-paced lab environment, with a strong neuroscience background.
-
Hands-on experience with iPSC culturing and multi-lineage differentiation of CNS cell types i.e., different neuronal cell types, astrocytes, microglia, or brain microvascular endothelial cells.
-
Previous neurodegenerative disease modeling including co-culture in 2D and 3D using complex systems such as brain assembloids/organoids.
-
Experience with assay development and data interpretation.
-
Basic genomics knowledge.
-
Able to multi-task and participate/lead multiple projects simultaneously.
-
Clear written and oral communication and detailed documentation skills.

Preferred:
-
Experience in high-throughput drug screening.
-
Experience with microfluidics.
-
Experience with omics datasets and bioinformatics.
-
Experience with human iPSC-derived neuron electrophysiology.
-
Experience with molecular biology and biochemistry assays such as DNA and RNA extraction, PCR and qPCR, plasmid construction, Western blotting, ELISA, etc.
-
Basic computer programming skills for data processing.

Compensation:
-
Competitive salary and benefits commensurate with experience
